Coral Island

Posted on: Thursday 25th June 2026

As part of Armed Forces & Veterans Week 2026, Coral Island will be hosting its annual event for veterans and serving members of the UK’s Armed Forces on Thursday 25 June.

But what is Armed Forces & Veterans Week? We take a look at this important national occasion and why we believe it is vital to recognise and celebrate the men and women who make significant contributions to the defence and safety of our country.

Armed Forces & Veterans Week

Armed Forces & Veterans Week is a national celebration dedicated to honouring both current service personnel and veterans of the UK’s Armed Forces.

It takes place in the final week of June each year, culminating in Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 June 2026. Throughout the week, communities across the UK come together to show their support, beginning with the raising of the Armed Forces flag on buildings and landmarks nationwide.

The week provides an opportunity for the public to recognise the contributions of those currently serving, veterans, reservists, cadets, and service families.

Why do we celebrate Armed Forces & Veterans Week?

Supporting members of the Armed Forces provides a valuable morale boost for service personnel and their families.

In recent years, members of the Armed Forces played a crucial role supporting the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic — from manning testing centres in all weather conditions to assisting with the vaccine rollout and helping construct Nightingale Hospitals.

Their contribution highlights how much the British public owes to those in uniform, both at home and overseas.

Every day of the year, Armed Forces personnel work around the world to help protect the UK — from training with international partners to supporting peacekeeping efforts. British forces continue to take part in large-scale training exercises across Europe alongside NATO allies.

The work can be demanding and often dangerous, taking place in extreme environments and requiring long periods away from home and loved ones.

When service ends, many veterans and their families face new challenges adjusting to civilian life, making it equally important that we continue to show our support and gratitude beyond active service.

Armed Forces & Veterans Week at Coral Island

Armed Forces & Veterans Week in Blackpool is a chance to say thank you to those who serve, and at Coral Island, we are proud to show our appreciation.

On Thursday 25 June, serving members of the Armed Forces and veterans are invited to join us at The Buccaneer, Coral Island’s family bar and restaurant, for a two-course carvery meal and complimentary drink between 3pm and 6:30pm.

This is always a popular event, so booking is required. A fully refundable £5 deposit is needed to secure a place, which can be made by calling 01253 922182.

We hope you will join us in showing your support for our Armed Forces this June, and that all attending personnel and veterans enjoy our hospitality as a small token of our gratitude for their service.

If you are currently serving in the Armed Forces, or part of a service family, we would love to hear from you - please get in touch and we can put together a tailored package to support your visit.
