Blackpool

Along with the famous Tower, the Golden Mile of beaches, the world-famous Illuminations, and of course, the grinning pirate skull facade of Coral Island, the trams that travel the stretch of Fylde Coast are certainly one of the iconic sights in Blackpool.

And soon two of these legendary Blackpool institutes will join forces, as the very first Coral Island branded tram is set to launch in time for the Easter holidays. Unmissable in its striking yellow livery, the tram will be emblazoned with the Coral Island logo on the front and the sides, while windows will advertise the family entertainment Centre’s long-running Kids Eat Free offer.

The tram will run from Starr Gate at the south end of the tramway all the way up to Fleetwood Ferry and back again for the next 12 months, depositing Blackpool residents and visitors and all along the promenade and at the Tower Tram Stop, right across the road from the famous amusement arcade.

Coral Island’s Managing Director Jeff MacNamara added: ‘Coral Island are delighted to be launching our very own ‘Kids Eat Free’ tram onto the Blackpool fleet in 2024. Our business always places family fun at the heart of what we do, and our famous ‘Kids Eat Free’ deal reflects our passion for driving amazing value for all who visit. We are always proud to support our local transport links through Blackpool Transport and we look forward to everyone ‘spotting’ our Coral Island tram while they are visiting or travelling across Blackpool.’

Blackpool trams are a regular sight in the Lancashire seaside town, from the vintage heritage trams giving tourist excursions to the Blackpool Illumination special trams, decked out in lights and displays to the fleet of state-of-the-art Bombardier ‘Flexity 2’ trams that were introduced back between 2012 and 2018, carrying over 5 million customers every year!

The 11-mile Blackpool Tramway dates to 1885 and is one of the oldest electric tramways in the world, and the second oldest in the UK, with the Volk Electric Tramway in Brighton opening only two years earlier. Both these electric tramways are the only surviving first-generation tramways in the UK.

It’s easy to get to Coral Island on the Tram, whether you’re on our new Coral Island branded vehicle or a vintage double-decker! The tramway runs right along the Promenade, into the heart of the town centre, and if you get off at the Tower Tram Stop, you’ll find yourself right next to the famous facade of the amusement arcade and restaurant complex Coral Island.

Inside you’ll find all your favourite games, from the traditional seaside amusements such as the penny pushers and the crane grabbers to ticket games galore, where you can play to win tickets to exchange for gifts, toys, and vouchers at the biggest and best prize shop in Blackpool, and the latest high-tech video arcade games.

If you’ve seen the new tram, then you’ll already know that Kids Eat Free at Coral Island, all day, every day! Children aged under 10 can receive a FREE kids’ meal with every paid adult meal at our participating restaurants.

This includes the Big Fish Trading Co. and the Traditional Chippy for the freshest and best fish and chips in town, The Buccaneer Family Bar & Restaurant for all your family favourites in a pub decked out to look like the captain’s library, and our brand-new dining experience, Coral Harbour Kitchen & Bar.

Brand-new for 2024, Coral Harbour Kitchen & Bar is a piratical food hall and street food market with a wide range of dishes and cuisines from all around the world, and with the nautical twist everyone has come to expect from Coral Island.
