Award winning Quality food at great prices! Here we shine our spotlight on our suppliers and the story behind our food journey...
When people think of Coral Island, they often picture flashing arcade lights, the famous Camel Derby, and families enjoying a day on Blackpool’s iconic promenade.
But behind the fun and excitement lies something just as important - a network of dedicated local suppliers who help keep Coral Island’s award winning kitchens running every single day.
From the butcher preparing the venue’s famous carvery meats to the farmers growing the potatoes that become golden seaside chips, these partnerships have quietly powered Coral Island’s food offering for decades.
Now, the Blackpool landmark is shining a spotlight on the local producers who make it all possible.
Local Partnerships at the Heart of the Kitchen
For more than half a century collectively, three Fylde Coast suppliers have worked alongside Coral Island to keep its five eateries stocked with fresh, high-quality ingredients:
- Choice Meats
- Jenkinson’s Potato Company
- King Neptune’s Fish Company
Together, they supply the essential ingredients that appear across Coral Island’s menus - from the Buccaneer restaurant to the ever-popular Promenade Chippy.
While many large venues rely on national distributors, Coral Island has chosen a different route - working directly with nearby producers. The result is a shorter supply chain, fresher ingredients, and food that stays true to the region’s seaside traditions.
Deliveries arrive daily, produce is prepared from scratch on-site, and the kitchens maintain a genuine farm-to-fork approach that’s increasingly rare at this scale.
Choice Meats: The Butcher Behind the Carvery
Located on Dickson Road in Blackpool, Choice Meats began with a simple mission: serving the local community.
Over time, the company spotted an opportunity to supply nearby hotels and restaurants, expanding its operations from 1996 onwards. Today, its cutting plant at Poulton Business Park allows the business to operate independently and maintain full control over quality.
For Coral Island, Choice Meats supplies key ingredients including the meats used in its famous carvery and its secret-recipe burgers - favourites among families visiting the venue.
Jenkinson’s Potato Company: From Lancashire Fields to Seaside Chips
Few foods are more synonymous with the British seaside than fish and chips - and the quality of the potatoes makes all the difference.
Jenkinson’s Potato Company, based in Pilling on Lancashire’s rich mossland soil, has built a strong reputation for growing high-quality “chipping” potatoes. The proximity to Blackpool means the journey from field to kitchen takes less than an hour.
That short distance allows Coral Island’s kitchens to rumble and chip potatoes fresh on site, avoiding pre-processed alternatives and delivering the authentic flavour visitors expect from a seaside chippy.
King Neptune’s Fish Company: Fresh from Fleetwood Docks
Just up the coast in Fleetwood, King Neptune’s Fish Company supplies the fish used in Coral Island’s award-winning fish and chips.
Operating directly from Fleetwood docks, Neptune’s delivers fresh fish straight to the kitchens, where it is prepared daily on-site.
The result? Fish and chips that taste exactly as they should — fresh, crisp, and unmistakably seaside.
Supporting Local, Delivering Value for Families
For Coral Island, these partnerships are about more than just logistics. They’re about trust, reliability, and supporting the local economy.
Mark Fox, Food and Beverage Director at Coral Island, explains:
“Our success at Coral Island is built on the reliability of our suppliers. By investing in relationships with Fylde Coast partners like Choice Meats, Jenkinson’s, and King Neptune’s, we get a level of freshness and accountability you can't find with a national firm.
Because our produce is responsibly sourced and delivered daily - always fresh and never frozen - their dedication to quality allows us to keep our costs down and continue passing that value back to families through our ‘Kids Eat Free’ offer.”
The Secret Ingredient Behind Coral Island
Coral Island is one of Europe’s largest free-entry family entertainment destinations, welcoming thousands of visitors to Blackpool’s Central Promenade every year.
While the arcade games, prizes, and pirate-themed fun are what visitors see first, the venue’s food offering is an equally important part of the experience.
And thanks to a handful of trusted local suppliers - butchers, farmers, and fishmongers - the kitchens behind the scenes continue to deliver the fresh, flavourful meals families expect.
Sometimes, the real secret ingredient isn’t a recipe.
It’s the people behind it.
