The start of the year always seems to drag on and on, so it’ll be a relief for kids everywhere to know that the half-term holidays are fast approaching!

Here at Coral Island, we’re excited to see all those smiling faces and happy families come through the doors again, all ready to have fun and play on our amazing games, win tickets to exchange for toys and more in our Prize Shop, shoot hoops, down clowns, and take on the Camel Derby!

It might still be winter, and not the best time of year to enjoy Blackpool’s golden beaches, but there’s still loads to do in town this February, so let’s have a look at some great ideas for what’s on this half-term!

Blackpool Tower

It simply has to be the most iconic landmark on the entire Fylde Coast, but there’s much more than meets the eye at Blackpool Tower. Sadly, the Blackpool Tower Eye, with its views from the top of the tower across Lancashire and the Irish Sea is closed for the winter season, but there are many other great attractions still open.

Blackpool’s longest-running show, The Blackpool Tower Circus is a fantastic and fun show for families, full of laughter, thrilling stunts, and the legendary clowns, Mooky and Mr Boo. With a brand new show for 2023, including acrobats and stunt performers from all around the world, it’s a show to remember!

Bringing together an incredible cast of actors, special effects, and elaborate stages, The Blackpool Tower Dungeons are not to be missed. Explore the amazing sets as you are regaled with gripping stories from 1,000 years of gory history, as the special effects make the hairs on the back of your neck stay up with fright!

Sea Life Blackpool

The amazing aquarium reopens after its winter break in time for half-term, so why not go and explore and discover an incredible underwater world, full of some of the strangest and most wonderful creatures imaginable? From giant turtles to graceful rays, colourful clownfish to starling seahorses, there’s all manner of aquatic life in the four aquarium zones, and you could even come face-to-fin with a shark!

Clip’N’Climb Blackpool

If you’re looking for something a bit more active to do this half-term, then when not head to Clip’N’Climb. It’s an all-weather complex for both kids and adults, with 20 different climbing walls, with varying difficulties suitable for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced climbers.

Test your agility and courage in so many different ways, whether you’re climbing walls, or facing the terrifying Vertical Drop Slide! There’s no experience needed to have a great day at Clip’N’Climb, as full instruction is given, and all the equipment you need is provided!

Blackpool Zoo

A trip to the zoo always makes a great family day out! Blackpool Zoo has thousands of animals, from big cats such as tigers, to majestic elephants, gorillas and orangutans, lemurs, otters and much more!

When not take a look at the animal interaction activities, where you could become a zoo keeper for the day, get a VIP behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at the zoo, and get up close and personal with animals from all around the world.

Take a stroll along the promenade

If the weather is fine, you still might need to wrap up against the cold, but there’s so much to see and do along Blackpool Promenade.

You’ll find a wide range of shops, restaurants, fortune tellers, gift shops selling sticks of Blackpool rock, and much more! Explore the Comedy Carpet on the Tower Festival Headland that celebrates the funniest and most iconic jokes and lines from the best of British comedians and entertainers.

Blackpool also has magnificent piers, such as the Grade II-listed North Pier, built in the 1860s, and the oldest and longest of the town’s three piers. With its Victorian charm, theatre, traditional carousel, tearooms, and arcade, it has long been a seaside favourite!

The Central Pier is typically the busiest and most iconic of Blackpool’s piers, packed with arcades, restaurants, shops, and of course the huge Ferris wheel! Take a stroll right to the very end of the 339-metre-long pier for some breathtaking views over the Irish Sea!

Stanley Park

Regularly voted the best park in the UK, gorgeous Stanley Park features a bandstand, Italian-style gardens, and a boating lake, and boasts amazing nature trails to follow, wildlife to spot, and beautiful gardens. It is the ideal place for a picnic on a sunny day, and the kids can run around play frisbee, and you can all enjoy some quality family time.

Ascent Trampoline Park

Far from your average trampoline park, Ascent includes a state-of-the-art soft play area for the smaller kids, a fantastic indoor caving system the first of its kind in the UK, climbing walls, and a ninja assault course! And there are amazing trampolines too!

Coral Island

Come rain or shine, Coral Island is all the pirate-themed indoor fun you could ever wish for! Blackpool’s largest free admission indoor attraction has all the latest games and ticket machines, traditional season amusements such as the penny pushers and soft toy crane grabbers, amazing rides, and great value family restaurants where kids eat free!

Whether you want fish and chips at the award-winning Traditional Chippy or Big Fish Trading Co., or to explore the hidden pirate treasure in the pirate galleon-themed Buccaneer Family Bar & Restaurant, kids under 10 years old eat for free with every paying adult!

It’s easy to spend hours at Coral island, working your way around the amusements and games, shooting hoops and downing clowns, taking a trip with the Raving Rabbids on the VR games, or racing your friends and family at the Camel Derby.

You’ll also find great rides at Coral Island, such as the Pirate Flyer, a monorail that takes you high above the crowds, or the terrifying Ghost Train to discover the secret of the lost pirates’ treasure!

We’re all eager and ready to welcome you back to Coral island for 2023, and can’t wait to see what prizes you will want to claim at the Prize Shop with all the tickets you win!

You’ll find Coral Island right on the Promenade, right in the centre of Blackpool. We’re open from 10 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday (open until 10.30 pm on Fridays) and open from 9.30 am to 10.30 pm at weekends (open until 9 pm on Sundays).

We can’t wait to see all your happy smiling faces again, so start planning your half-term trip today!
